Lift Station Scada System

Back to main page

The Lift station section has approximately 200 sanitary sewer pumping stations. Manually inspectingLift Station Scada these on a daily basis can be a daunting task if not altogether impossible. To keep an eye on all these stations, a system has been implemented which monitors and controls various functions within the stations from a remote centralized location. This system is known as the supervisory control and data acquisition system or SCADA for short.

The system consists of three (3) supervisory control centers capable of 24 hour monitoring and controlling of each pump station via a conventional radio signal. The Remote Terminal Units (RTU) at each station collect data and download the station information to the central system. It also controls certain operations and generates an alarm to the central unit in the event station operating parameters do not meet preset levels. The central system is manned between the hours of 7:00am and midnight after which the system auto - dialer takes over and can notify the lift station personnel at their home by means of telephone.
