The City of Orlando’s Public Works Department has upgraded the sanitary sewer along West Central Boulevard, starting at Garland Avenue and running west to Glenn Lane. This completes Phase 1 of the West Central Boulevard Sanitary Sewer & Streetscape Construction Project.
Phase 2 of this project began in January of 2017. This phase includes placing OUC power lines underground.
Phase 3 is following closely behind Phase 2 and will include: rebuilding West Central Boulevard from Glenn Lane to Hughey Avenue, paving Church Street from Lee Avenue to Terry Avenue, upgrading traffic signal, making sidewalk improvements, and installing lighting and landscaping. Phases 2 and 3 are expected to be complete in Fall, 2017.
- West Central Boulevard will be closed block by block, beginning at Glenn Lane and ending at Hughey Avenue.
- Contractor representatives will contact the businesses prior to road closure to minimize inconveniences to normal business activities.
- Bus service will be rerouted around road closures.
- Most of the construction will occur during the daytime hours of 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; some modifications to work hours may be necessary to complete the work.
