Aquatics

The City of Orlando Aquatics division operates 11 pools throughout the City.  A variety of aquatic programs are offered for ages 6-months and older including Red Cross swim lessons, fitness classes, lifeguarding, competitive and non-competitive swim team opportunities, lap swim and open swim hours. Our pools are also available for rental upon request.

Programs

*Please Note: If registering Online, your registration is not complete until you fill out the Aquatics Registrations Forms. Please arrive 20 minutes before your first lesson to allow time to complete these forms. Please call 407.246.4281 for any questions. 

  1. Lifeguard

    Certification classes include:

    • Lifeguarding
    • First Aid
    • CPR for the Professional Rescuer
    • AED
    • Oxygen
    • Administration

    You must take a swim test prior to attending a lifeguard class. Materials needed for the class: swimsuit, towel, goggles, a change of clothes, paper, pencil and a sweater if you get cold easily. Participants may not separate the course and must attend in two concurrent weekends. All classes last 2 weekends. Class space is limited.

  2. City Year-Round Swim Team Practice (competitive)

    Competitive swimming for ages 6 – 18. This class helps promote great health, wellness and fitness. Youth will practice and prepare to attend local and national USA sanctioned swimming meets. Practice is held at the following

  3. Adult Fitness

    Adult Fitness is a self-paced lap-swimming program for those 18-years-old and up. This program is offered year-round. Daily, monthly, semi-annual and annual memberships are available. Please click on the pools below to find out when adult fitness classes are offered.

  4. Water Aerobics

    Participate in water exercise programs for adults of all ages and fitness levels. Have fun and make new friends during this exciting exercise program. Please click on the pools below to find out when water aerobics classes are offered.

  5. Open Swim (summer only)

    (Available during summer months only)

    Swim time for the general public. Children under 10-years-old must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children 6-years-old and under must be accompanied in the water by an adult at all times. Proof of residency required for everyone at the time of registration.

    Tot time: Swim time for parents and toddlers.

  6. Recreational Swim Team (summer only)

    Available during summer months only.

    This is an instructional non-competitive program focused on stroke refinement, teamwork and self-reliance. This program is designed for children ages 6 to 16-years-old. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. In order to register, participants must pass a test of swimming 25 yards without stopping.  Swimmers must have a bathing suit, goggles, swim cap and a towel.

Red Cross Swim Lessons (Summer only)

All Red Cross swim lessons are taught by Red Cross certified instructors. Each course is eight (8) 30-minute lessons.

  1. Learn to Swim – Water Babies Preschool

    Swimming instructions for ages 6-months to 3-years-old. The program gives parents information and techniques to help orient their children to the water and to supervise water activities in a safe manner. Parent/Adult accompaniment in the water is required for infant and toddler levels. The class is 30 minutes long and runs Monday – Thursday at the following community centers:

  2. Learn to Swim - Preschool

    Swimming instructions for ages 3 to 5-years-old. The class is 30 minutes long and runs Monday – Thursday at the following community centers:

  3. Learn to Swim - Youth

    Swimming instructions for ages 6 to 17-years-old. There are six levels of Learn to Swim classes The class is 30 minutes long and runs Monday – Thursday at the following community centers:

  4. Jr. Guard

    Learn personal water safety and basic rescue techniques while exploring the job of lifeguarding. Junior Guards will also shadow and assist pool lifeguards during operating hours. This class is offered at the following community centers:

Policies and General Information

  1. Summer program schedules permit ONLY one make-up class after a minimum of two rainouts.
  2. Proper swim attire is required. Infant and pre-school children must wear a tight-fitting swimsuit or a swim diaper (not a regular disposable diaper) to enter the pool.
  3. Absence from classes may inhibit a child’s ability to advance to the next course level.
  4. Please be on time. Tardiness affects everyone!
  5. REMEMBER: Children’s ability to learn skills differ from each other. Be patient and encourage your child as much as possible. Also remember to practice and keep skills sharp.

Rentals

Pool Rental Policy and Procedures

  • $100 Refundable Damage/Clean-up Deposit
  • $50 per hour (minimal of 3 hour rental)
  • $15 per hour lifeguard (minimal of 3 lifeguards per hour)
  • General liability insurance is required and is not refundable. It must be provided at time of rental or purchased through the City. Cost varies depending on the number of attendees
  • No Alcoholic Beverages allowed
  • All rentals must be paid in full at time of booking
  • Rentals must be canceled at least 72 hours prior to event to receive a refund
