Athletics

The City of Orlando Athletics Division operates 14 athletic fields that host youth and adult sports throughout the city. A variety of athletic programs are offered for ages 5 and older including, but not limited to Basketball, Cheerleading, Football and Baseball. Our athletic fields are also available for rental upon request.

Programs

  1. Adult Basketball

    Ages 18 and up

    Two 10-week seasons per year are offered. Spring registration begins on February 22nd with the season starting April 3rd. Fall registration begins August 1st with the season starting on September 4th. The National Federation of State High School Association rules govern play. Games are played at the following community center:

    Cost: $350 per team

  2. Adult Softball

    Ages 18 and up

    Registration for the 7-week Polar Bear season begins in November with games starting in January. Registration for the 10-week spring season begins in January with games starting in March. Registration for the 10-week fall season begins in June with games starting in August. Playoff's will be determined at a later date. Amateur Softball Association (ASA) rules govern play for both men's and coed divisions. Games are played at the following park:   :

    Cost: Adult Polar Bear Softball  $325 per team/Adult Softball (Spring Season) $400 per team/Adult Softball (Fall Season) $400 per team

  3. Girls Lacrosse

    Grades 4 - 12

    A developmental program for players new to lacrosse or beginners looking to continue to expand their skills. Coaches will introduce the game in a fun and interactive manner. A Mandatory Waiver is needed to participate. Field equipment is included. There is limited space, therefore sign up is first come first serve. Games are played at the following athletic field:

  4. Lacrosse Volunteer Coaches Needed

    Anyone who is interested in coaching is welcome to apply. Applications can be obtained at the center where you wish to volunteer. Background screenings are free. For additional information, please call 407.246.4300.

  5. Cheerleading

    Ages 5 - 14

    Cheerleading begins August 15th and ends November 25th and is concurrent with the Youth Football season. Registration begins in May. Payment is required at time of registration. Games are played at the following athletic field:

  6. Fall Tackle Football

    Ages 7 -14

    Fall Tackle Football begins August 15th and ends November 25th. A registration fee and a physical exam are required for each participant. There are four divisions: Mighty Mite, Pee Wee, Junior and Senior. Games are played at the following athletic field:

  7. Open Golf League

    Ages 18 and up

    The Open Golf League is a 4 person team, playing 9 holes in a 2-man scramble. Games are played every other Friday beginning April 1st at the following golf course:

  8. Youth Baseball League

    Ages 5 -15

  9. Winter JR. NBA Basketball

    Ages 9 -15

    This coed league begins January 15th and ends April 25th. A registration fee and uniform fee is required for each participant. Games are played at the following community centers:

  10. Volunteers

  11. Youth Co-Ed Flag Football

    Ages 5-14

    Youth Flag Football begins March 5th for 8 weeks. Registration begins February 12th. A registration fee is required for each participant and includes team jersey and belt. There are three divisions: Ages 5 - 11 Co-ed, 12 - 14 Boys and 12 - 14 Girls division. Games are played at the following athletic field:

Policies and General Info 

  1. At the time of registration, each participant must sign a City of Orlando Hold Harmless Agreement in order to participate in any program.
  2. For minor participants at the time of registration, a parent or guardian must fill out the Youth Sports Hold Harmless Agreement.
  3. Some programs require a registration fee.
  4. Some programs require a uniform fee.
  5. Some programs require a physical exam in order to participate.
  6. Payment is required at the time of registration.

Athletic Field Rental Information

 

  • $100 refundable damage/cleanup deposit is required for tournament play
  • Reservations are made on a month-to-month basis on the last Monday of each month
  • Minimum field rental time is 2 hours and weekend rentals must be paid in full by Friday at noon
  • Restrooms will be opened for rentals lasting longer than 2 hours
  • General liability insurance is required and is not refundable. It must be provided at the time of the rental or purchased through the City. City insurance covers spectators only. Cost varies depending upon the number of spectators.
  • No alcoholic beverages allowed
  • A copy of the rental contract must be available for verification by City staff at the field
  • Rentals may be canceled no later than noon on the day of the event
  • Requests for refunds due to unforeseen circumstances can be made by calling the athletics office on the first business day after your event
  • Concessions are available. Contact the athletics department for details.
