Your can be the first to be informed of all OTC construction update information by signing up at the OTC front desk.  The information will be emailed to you directly from City Officials as soon as they release it.  After a long delay, The Creative Village project, which includes the University of Central Florida Downtown Campus, is now moving quickly and it directly impacts the future of OTC.

As many of you have already noticed, the racquetball/hitting walls and large storage building located behind courts 10-16, have been removed.  In addition, about 20 large trees were removed and OTC is now dealing with is the relocation of many osprey’s that are relocating to the tops of the OTC lighting fixtures.  We clean up the messes every morning and the City Officials have the nests under watch via drones.  The nests can’t be touched while it is occupied by eggs and/or baby birds.  So watch out for some low flying large birds until the nests are taken care of.

The next session of the OTC free introduction to tennis lessons for juniors and adults will be held in April & May.  To register, email Thomas.sweitzer@cityoforlando.net .

A POP Tennis Exhibition and Play Day will be held at OTC on Sunday March 26 from 1:30-3 pm.  POP tennis is a game much like pickleball, except you use a low compression tennis ball.  It is played on a 60’ court and the rules are the same as tennis except you are allowed only one underhand serve.  The game is almost always doubles and will improve your volley game greatly.  The exhibition will feature two national champions and will be followed by an opportunity for you to play POP Tennis.  Equipment will be provided and the event is open to the public at no charge.  Tell and bring your friends!

An OTC Advisory Meeting will be held at the Downtown Recreation Center on Tuesday March 7 at 6 pm.  Please RSVP at Thomas.sweitzer@cityoforlando.net.

This summer we will again provide free introduction to tennis lessons to the 3,000 inner city children whom attend the city day camps at City Recreation Centers.  We are thrilled to announce that the USTA National Campus has will be supporting this initiative by providing an opportunity for these kids to visit and tour the National Campus and take part in a free tennis lesson provided by the National Campus teaching staff.  Thank you USTA for your continued efforts to support the growth of tennis in Orlando.

We are looking for men (we already have lots of ladies signed up), interested in playing on a Central Florida Tennis Association Mixed Doubles League.  The team captains are Lisa Peels and Sherri Tests. Matches will be played on Monday nights at 7 pm at OTC and other participating Orlando Clubs.  If interested, email Thomas.sweitzer@cityoforlando.net.

The Miami Open will be held in Key Biscayne march 22-26 and will feature ALL the top men and women professional tennis players in one of the biggest events of the year.

The College Match Days at the USTA National Campus have been a huge success with as many as 1,000 local tennis fans filling the stands.  The college teams competing have been thrilled to play in front of such large crowds.  There is still time for you to attend these free team matches.  Plan on attending:
