COMMUNITY EVENTS ADVISORY NOTICE

ROAD CLOSURES AND SPECIAL EVENT PARKING FOR SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8

WHAT:
The City of Orlando is preparing to welcome thousands of patrons to Downtown Orlando on Saturday, November 8, to attend a day of exciting events. As Central Floridians head to Downtown Orlando, the City wants to ensure the community has the most up-to-date information on road closures and parking options.

LARGE SCALE EVENTS ON THIS DAY INCLUDE: 

Veterans Day Parade
Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Community Open House
Solar Bears Game
Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Orlando

DOWNTOWN TRANSPORTATION TIPS:

In order to provide a seamless and hassle-free experience to the public, the City suggests the below parking and transit recommendations. The parking garages highlighted below represent public garages. Private garages may also be utilized. Additionally, the City offers convenient and FREE transportation on the LYMMO service. Please reference the attached map for easily accessible stops near parking garages.

The City of Orlando will display road closures through the use of electronic message signs. Eight electronic message signs are located throughout Downtown and on I-4 and will provide the most up-to-date information for patrons. Travelers should utilize these signs for real-time information based on current traffic conditions and directions to avoid congestion.

Patrons are also encouraged to utilize the ParkIN’ app developed by the Downtown Development Board (DDB). This app provides helpful parking information, directions to the garages, walking directions and more. This application is available for free for iPhone, Droid and limited Blackberry users.  To access the app via the web, please visitparkin.downtownorlando.com/web.aspx.

Additionally, the City has developed a user-friendly parking and transportation website at CityofOrlando.net/parking. This website will includes directions to the garages from major highways, walking directions from each parking facility and access information for LYMMO.  All transportation information will also be posted at CityofOrlando.net.

Veterans Day Parade
The Veterans Day Parade will start at 11 a.m.

Patrons attending the Veterans Day Parade are encouraged to use the following parking garages:
Library Garage, 112 East Central Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32801
Central Garage, 55 West Central Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32801

Road Closures:
Road closures associated with the parade staging area will run from7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Staging area closures will be located on Orange Avenue, Amelia Street, West Concord Street, Livingston Street and Robinson Street as shown on the attached map.

Additional closures along the parade route will run from10 a.m. – 3 p.m.Parade route closures will be Central Boulevard between Garland Avenue and Lake Avenue, Rosalind Avenue from South Street to Livingston Street and numerous intersecting side streets.

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Community Open House
The open house will run from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. 

Patrons can utilize the following garages in conjunction with the free LYMMO bus service for easy access to the event:

Jefferson Street Garage, 62 West Jefferson Street. Orlando, FL 32801
Washington Street Garage, 50 West Washington Street, Orlando, FL  32801

Road Closure:
Orange Avenue will be closed between South Street and Anderson Street from10 a.m. – midnight.

Solar Bears Game 
The Solar Bears game will begin at 7 p.m.

The parking garages most convenient for Solar Bears fans are:

GEICO Garage, 400 West South Street, Orlando, FL 32801
Church Street,150 South Hughey Ave Orlando, FL 32801

Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Orlando
Patrons are encouraged to use the following parking lots and then utilize the free Grapefruit LYMMO Line with locations at the Amway Center and Wells’ Built Museum:

Lot 9, 57 Hughey Avenue. Orlando, FL 32801
Lot 10, 81 Hughey Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801

The Grapefruit LYMMO Line route will be expanded to provide service at the Florida Citrus Bowl for EDC from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. on November 7and 8.

Magnolia Avenue from Anderson Street to South Street and South Street from Magnolia Avenue to Orange Avenue (eastbound direction only) are closed for construction associated with the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center.
Projected opening date is November of 2014

South Street from Boone Avenue to Orange Avenue (eastbound direction only) is closed for construction associated with the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center
Projected opening date is October 15

Central Boulevard between Lake Avenue and Rosalind Avenue will be closed on Wednesday, November 5 from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. for the “EDC Annual Barbeque.” For event information, contact 407.649.9190.

The intersection of Hyer Avenue and Washington Street will be closed from 5 p.m. on October 31 until 2 a.m. on November 1 for “Terror on Thornton Park.” For event information, contact 407.701.9382.

Church Street between Garland Avenue and Orange Avenue will be closed on at 2 pm on Friday, October 31 until 5 a.m. on November 1 for the “Church Street Halloween Block Party.” For event information, contact 407.649.4270.

The following streets will be closed beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 31 until 11:30 pm on November 2 for the annual “Fall Fiesta in the Park.” For event information, contact 407.246.2782.

  • Robinson St. from Rosalind Ave. to Summerlin Ave.
  • Eola Dr. from Robinson St. to Washington St.
  • Central Blvd. from Lake Ave. to Rosalind Ave.

The following streets will be closed from 4:00 AM October 26 until 3:00 AM on October 27 for the “1-800-411-PAIN Festival Calle Orange Downtown Orlando.” For event information, contact 407-381-5310.

  • Amelia St. from Orange Ave to Geneva Pl.
  • Livingston St. from North Magnolia Ave. to Ruth Ln.
