|Performs professional, technical and supervisory work involving electrical engineering and telecommunications. An employee assigned to this classification is responsible for managing the design, installation, operation and maintenance of audio, audiovisual, staging, rigging, theatrical, radio and telecommunications equipment within the Centroplex facilities. Work is performed under general direction of the Centroplex Deputy Director and performance is reviewed through meetings, and results obtained.|
|Supervises the operation of all technical systems including audio systems, video display systems, computerized hoist system, rigging systems, lighting systems, video production equipment, image magnification equipment, telecommunications systems, CATV satellite reception systems and 2-way radio systems.
Meets with clients and provides technical consultation on rigging, sound equipment, lighting equipment and radio equipment for all Centroplex facilities.
Serves as liaison and advisor to network and local television and radio production crews.
Serves as technical advisor to Centroplex Director on all technical sound, lighting, and special effects matters.
Plans, organizes and oversees the installation, video production and operation of all communication systems for Centroplex facilities.
Recruits, trains, schedules and supervises rigging and production crews for Centroplex events.
Coordinates equipment use and distribution during scheduled events.
Develops and implements preventative maintenance and repair program for all technical equipment.
Oversees all theatrical rigging crews to insure compliance with safe rigging practices and structural load limits.
Provides training and support in the implementation and operation of all computerized equipment in Centroplex facilities.
Develops and administers annual operating budget; maintains inventory for all technical services equipment and supplies and purchases items in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.
Trains Centroplex staff in proper operation of 2-way radio equipment.
Oversees the allocation and use of all telecommunications equipment.
Performs other related duties as needed.
|Knowledge of hardware and software used for computerized telephone switching equipment.
Ability to determine power requirements, match impedances, calculate power/decibel relationships and determine appropriate use of equipment for various applications.
Ability to calculate maximum rigging loads to insure adherence to engineering standards and safe rigging practices.
Ability to learn and operate various software packages and train Centroplex personnel in microcomputer operation. Ability to diagnose and solve hardware and software problems.
Ability to determine and establish necessary electrical service and provide assistance to client production crews.
Knowledge of union stagehand labor policies and practices.
Ability to serve as liaison with union labor and coordinate activities with client and in-house production crews.
Knowledge of repeater-based multichannel 2-way radio systems.
Ability to allocate and maintain equipment.
Ability to train staff in proper radio procedures.
Knowledge of FCC regulations and procedures related to 2-way radio equipment.
Ability to express clearly, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to develop operating budgets and inventory systems.
Ability to plan and supervise the work of others.
Ability to walk, stand and/or climb for extended periods of time and lift moderately heavy equipment.
|Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering and four (4) or more years experience in installation, operation and maintenance of audio, lighting, video production, image magnification, telecommunication, CATV/Satellite reception and 2-way radio equipment; or an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience. Some supervisory or managerial experience required.
Required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. A Valid Florida Driver License is Required.
