|Performs administrative and supervisory work for a comprehensive city wide athletic program. Primary duties include planning, promoting, and directing the development and implementation of various events/maintenance programs; developing and administering budgets for the Athletic Programs; performing investigations and taking corrective action when required; conducting surveys to assess athletic needs/opportunities and formulating plans for program changes/expansions, compiling data/information, making recommendations and preparing reports to substantiate recommendations; monitoring program revenue collections from membership dues and other related fees, reviewing financial reports for completeness and accuracy; as well as overseeing the care, maintenance and game day preparation of athletic fields and hard courts. Position supervises seasonal and permanent staff. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through meetings, reports submitted, and evaluation of results obtained. Work is sometimes performed outdoors and employee is exposed to extreme heat, insects, and weather conditions. Employee may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.|
|Hire, supervise and evaluate subordinate personnel. Meet on a regular basis to give direction and support for the successful completion of program goals.
Supervise and ensure proper management and organization of a tennis membership facility, outdoor multi-sport facility, indoor athletic facility and all youth and adult athletic programs, services and special events.
Responsible for the development and administration of the Tennis Center, Downtown Center, Youth Sports, and Adult Sports annual Budgets.
Involved in recreation research, planning implementation, and evaluation of new recreation projects (i.e., skateboard park, Trotters park RFP etc.) and current programs.
Compile, verify and account for accurate records and reports pertaining to revenue, expenditures, inventory, attendance, accidents and incidents.
Coordinate usage of athletic facilities for community based and private user groups. Ensure proper collection of contracts, user fees, insurance requirements and related documents.
Ensure the health and safety of participants by having facilities visually inspected and reported on a daily basis for safety violations.
Make sure facilities are properly scheduled for programs and are adequately staffed through proper recruiting, training, certifying, hiring, and contract management practices.
Enforce all policies and procedures of the Athletic Facilities, Bureau, Department, and City.
Participate in the Bureau's five-year plan to include input for CIP projects, and the expansion or renovation of sports fields or athletic facilities.
|Working knowledge of administrative and effective management techniques and supervisory skills. Extensive knowledge of public recreation philosophy, principle, practices, trends and methods of athletic facility management and programming. Considerable knowledge of facilities, and equipment needed to conduct athletic programs. Knowledge of rules and regulations of various sports, athletic programs. Knowledge of rules and regulations of various sports, athletic programs, and events. Working knowledge of public relations principals and practices.
Skillfully and effectively express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Skilled in managing people and maintaining a positive, professional, and effective working relationship with outside agencies, organizations, supervisors, co-workers, employees, participants, officials and scorekeepers. Operate a computer with registration, word processing, and budget software. Skilled in the administering of CPR and first aid.
Ability to supervise and appraise the work of subordinates. Ability to hire, fire, and discipline employees. Ability to prepare, justify and maintain a program budget. Ability to maintain detailed records and submit accurate reports. Ability to initiate programs and evaluate their effectiveness. Coordinate usage of athletic facilities for public and contractual usage.
|Bachelor Degree in Recreation Physical Education or related field with four (4) or more years of experience developing/implementing recreation/athletic programs and overseeing the care, maintenance and game day preparation of athletic fields and hard courts, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess a valid State of Florida driver's license with a Commercial Drivers License "B", Florida Recreation & Parks Admin. (FRPA) Certification and /or Pesticide Applicators License are desired.
Must pass criminal background check and polygraph.
