|LABOR RELATIONS SPEC|
|Performs complex clerical and technical work in the Human Resources, Labor Relations division. Primary responsibilities include assembling, reviewing, processing and entering various personnel data and contracts, researching files and claims, and maintaining related records. Work is performed according to established policies, procedures, contracts, and deadlines. Employee is expected to exercise discretion, confidentiality and judgment, develop work routines and complete assignments with limited supervision. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed upon completion for accuracy and adherence to policies, procedures and contracts.|
|Types accurately, formats with style sheets, proof reads, and prepares for print union contracts.
Records and prepares accurate Minutes for all negotiations.
Provide union, policy, and other requested information upon request.
Prepare and send out meeting notices for negotiation and other meetings.
Prepare attendance lists and sign-in sheets for meetings.
Prepare duplicate recordings of taped sessions.
Assist EE Relations Specialists and other personnel as requested.
Reviews for completeness, accuracy and compliance with policies, procedures, and contracts all personnel data forms submitted for processing such as contracts and forms; and contacts source of information to resolve problems.
Types general correspondence, reports and forms as required.
Answers the telephone courteously to provide information regarding personnel related matters.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
|Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources and labor relations.
Considerable knowledge of policies, procedures, union contracts, business, communication, mathematics, and office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of computerized records maintenance.
Knowlege of the AS400, Lotus, and Kronos systems.
Skilled in the use of calculators, typewriters, computer, tape recorder, and word processor.
Ability to analyze data, perform research and resolve discrepancies.
Ablity to operate personal computer for extended periods of time.
Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and contracts and provide accurate information.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, union representatives, and the general public.
Ability to work independently, plan work schedules, meet deadlines, and handle confidential and sensitive material.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
|Associate's degree with course work in business communication, human resources or employee relations, and basic mathematics. Two (2) years personnel, labor relations, or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must type 40 CWPM.|
