|Performs paraprofessional work in urban planning. An employee in this class coordinates and develops written and graphic material that effectively illustrates planning values, concepts, projects, programs and accomplishments. This position also coordinates and prepares presentations, studies, reports and fact sheets that address the economic, social and physical needs of the City. Work is performed under supervision of the Assistant to the Director and is reviewed while in progress and upon completion.|
|Prepares written and graphic support that effectively illustrates planning concepts of land development, growth management, urban design and preservation, economic development, housing, transportation planning and community involvement.
Produces studies, reports, articles, web page, brochures, newsletters, and other presentation aides.
Photographs and videotapes projects/workshops used in planning proposals.
Continually updates video and slide library.
Develops and maintains panels, booths, visual aides, props and other graphic aides and support material used in presentations to City Council, official boards and at public workshops.
Represents the Planning Department on City's Communication Board and coordinates publications with the Office of Communication.
Provides assistance in preparing grant and award applications for the department.
Performs other duties as assigned.
|Knowledge of desktop publishing including photography, paper, equipment, developing and related processes.
Knowledge of business English and spelling.
Knowledge of graphic layout and design.
Knowledge of personal computers and software programs: Word, Quark, Publisher, Photoshop, Excel, Access, Frontpage and Powerpoint.
Skilled in writing and editing.
Skilled in graphic design and layout.
Skilled in photography.
Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees.
Ability to operate a personal computer for long periods of time.
Ability to operate video and still photography equipment
|Bachelor's degree with concentration in Planning, Public Administration, English or a related field with one (1) year experience in desktop publishing, graphic design and layout work; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
