|Performs technical and analytical work in evaluating, planning, support, and implementation of microcomputer systems. Provides analysis and testing of microcomputer hardware and software in support of clients, including System Administrators, Network Administrators and Application Developers. Provides technical review and consulting to Computer Systems Support Analysts (CSSA) project/problem resolution. Reviews all CSSA assigned projects and problem calls accuracy and thoroughness. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through observation and results obtained.|
|Evaluate and test hardware, operating system software, application utilities, interfaces, and support procedures to ascertain of the product or procedure.
Analyze workflow with regard to problem handling, project management. Develops, administers and modifies project management and inventory control applications to meet evolving needs.
Maintains technical support website to assist technical staff in obtaining needed downward documentation and other guidance specific to the City of Orlando.
Provide technical support (hardware and software) to CSSA, administrators and clients regarding microcomputer systems. Recommends testing and implementation strategies.
Provides consultation and training to CSSAs in latest microcomputer system hardware and software developments.
Keeps abreast of latest developments in microcomputer systems including interaction within a networked environment and specific interfaces with current systems and platforms.
Integrates existing databases with automated data collection systems (SMS).
Performs data conversions and develops procedures for moving data from one application/platform to another.
Review, reassign, update and close CSSA project and problem calls for accuracy and thoroughness.
Meet with various departmental staff reviewing projects, problems and new technological developments.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
|Knowledge of microcomputer operating systems including system interfaces with hardware, communication capabilities and system interaction with applications.
Knowledge of server administration and requirements regarding connectivity and support of microcomputer systems, both hardware and software.
Knowledge of various network communication protocols.
Knowledge of diagnostic applications for purpose of capacity planning and problem resolution.
Knowledge of database design and development.
Knowledge of information systems, concepts, techniques, and operating principles.
Knowledge of mainframe/mini hardware/software interfaces with microcomputer systems.
Knowledge of Call Center and Project Management procedures.
Skill in the operation of computers and peripheral equipment.
Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, regarding analysis, testing, review of problem/project resolutions, recommendations and use of specialized software and technical procedures..
Ability to conduct research and express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by assignments.
|Bachelors degree with major course work in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, or related field with three (3) years experience supporting, installing, analyzing and administering various computer systems (hardware and software); two (2) years experience, in data analysis, application development, programming, web publishing, or database support, regarding computer system support or operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience with Microsoft SMS, Active Directory, and/or Personal Computer operating systems is preferred. A valid Florida Drivers license required. A polygraph may be required for positions in this classification with access to information/databases related to public safety/law enforcement.
