|Supervises the comprehensive Wellness Program including City Hall Wellness Center and outlying city facilities for employees and retirees. Responsible for developing and administering programs, budgets, researching and accessing employee needs. Also, responsible to promote, plan, design and implement the appropriate Wellness program. Supervise staff and inspect related facilities for proper safety standards. Plan and implement various events throughout the year. Provide fitness advise and testing, consultation, personal training, and lectures. Requires independent judgement and initiative work in a highly specialized field. Work is performed under the supervision of the Assistant to the Director and reviewed through program evaluations and semi-annual performance reviews.|
|Develop, organize, and promote special events including Wellness Fair, Annual Employee Fitness Challenge and Great American Smoke out.
Perform physiological testing, administering lifestyle questionnaires, consult employees on all areas of wellness, write exercise prescriptions and provide personal training. Adapt programs for all diversities including all fitness levels, cultures, sex, age, special needs, etc.
Develops, designs and produces an ongoing promotional program to educate current and future employees about the Wellness Program through lecture, displays, brochures, special events and flyers.
Produces, designs and develops health education materials such as booklets, brochures, displays, posters, flyers. Develops and writes a wellness newsletter and articles for Hallways and other publications.
Supervises operations and maintenance of the Wellness Center as well as the outlying wellness activities at various facilities.
Supervises, hires, trains and reviews the work of Wellness staff.
Develops and administers an ongoing in-service training program for the entire staff in areas such as emergency response, physiological testing, CPR, customer service and policies & procedures.
Reviews, updates and maintains current methods of physiological testing and evaluation.
Develops annual program budget by projecting operational requirements and program goals. Maintains knowledge of current fitness equipment available, acceptable use, maintenance requirements and average repair costs.
Consults with other departments on fitness equipment purchases, layouts, fitness trail, and wellness programming.
Conducts surveys to assess wellness needs and formulate plan for program changes and expansion. Compiles and prepares report in order to make recommendations and proposals for new activities.
Serves as a department liaison to wellness related organizations.
Supervises and accounts for all revenue generated from special events and promotional items for sale.
Defines and enforces policies and procedures concerning the collection of funds.
Performs other related work as assigned.
|Must have extensive knowledge of exercise science including kinesiology, functional anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, risk factor identification, lifestyle modification techniques, injury prevention, exercise programming, health promotion, emergency procedures, human behavior psychology, human development/aging and metabolic equations.
Knowledge of management techniques including development of staff, materials for education, marketing, client records, fees, facilities management, financial planning, budgeting, and legal responsibilities.
The ability to assess and demonstrate the following exams using proper techniques and standard protocol established by the American College of Sports Medicine: Anthropometric/Body Composition assessment, flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and physical work capacity.
Demonstrate effective skills and techniques for written communication, public speaking and the use if audiovisuals.
Must be skilled in word processing and spreadsheet software.
Ability to provide a safe environment for exercise testing and exercise participation.
Must be able to work on several projects at once.
Ability to create and promote materials and programs.
|Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Health/Wellness related field combined with 4 years of experience, 3 years in supervisory capacity or any related training or experience. Strong emphasis in government or corporate wellness.
American College of Sports Medicine Health/Fitness Instructor or Director Certification.
Valid Florida Driver's License is required.
