|Middle Management/Professional/NM AD|
|Performs professional work supervising the operational, maintenance and programming activities of a community center. A community center differs from a regional center in that it does not have a gymnasium, has the middle attendence level, has a the middle revenue level, is typically open six days a week, and may have active outside groups. An employee in this classification is responsible for promoting the facility for usage, revenue generation and bookkeeping, hiring of facility employees, compiling weekly/monthly records, and purchasing supplies. Position reports to a Recreation Program Manager and is reviewed through reports, conferences, completion of performance goals and effectiveness of results achieved. Some positions are assigned to outdoor facilities/parks and employees may be exposed to weather conditions including extreme heat.|
|Conducts surveys to identify the needs of patrons and develops recreational/ social programming and special events to meet these needs. Plans activities, orders supplies and equipment and trains necessary staff; evaluates and promotes existing programs.
Prepares annual schedule of facility programming and special events.
Screens and accepts reservations for facility usage; serves as liaison with community groups; consults with prospective facility users regarding fees, insurance and related matters.
Recruits, interviews, trains and supervises all employees and volunteers at the facility.
Ensures facility maintenance schedule is followed; conducts inspections of buildings, grounds and equipment for cleanliness and safety in accordance with City, State and Federal health codes.
Collects, receipts and deposits all center and program fees; bills community groups and processes check requests for contractual instructors.
Maintains all participant attendance records and payroll reports.
Enforces rules and regulations of the facility with the public; updates policies and procedures.
May supervise subordinate staff.
Performs related work as required.
|Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the conduct of various recreational programs/events.
Knowledge of office practices to include bookkeeping, statistical reporting and budgeting.
Knowledge of facility and grounds maintenance.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to plan and supervise the work of subordinates and volunteers.
Ability to plan and implement programs for all ages.
Ability to visually inspect facilities for repairs.
Ability to initiate programs and evaluate their effectiveness.
Ability to walk over uneven terrain or unpaved paths.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, community groups, merchants, schools, and patrons of all ages.
Ability to operate a passenger bus.
Ability to operate a personal computer.
|Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, or related field and two (2) years of experience developing and/or implementing recreational/social programs, preferably with some supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of related education, training and experience.
Commercial Drivers License desired.
Valid Florida drivers license required. Must pass a criminal background check and polygraph.
