|Performs responsible marketing and public relations work involving convention sales and booking of events for Centroplex facilities. Duties include the development of marketing strategies and plans to solicit business for Downtown Orlando; organizing, coordinating and conducting site tours of facilities with meeting planners, conducting presentations, distributing marketing packages, negotiating contracts; scheduling, coordinating, booking, and monitoring event-related planning activities. Work is performed under the supervision of the Events Manager and is reviewed through discussions, reports submitted, and results obtained.|
|Participates in the development of marketing plans to attract and acquire major conventions, trade shows and other business meetings; consults with representatives of area hotels regarding hotel rates, group discounts, client needs, etc.; prepares and distributes promotional material to prospective clients.
Consults with meeting planners and provides information regarding capabilities of facilities , fees, restrictions, and applicable policies and procedures.
Ensures facility use contracts, deposits, funds due, insurance certificates and related documents are completed and received in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.
Attends various trade shows and special conventions to market Downtown Orlando and the Centroplex facilities as ideal sites to utilize for events.
Supervises and reviews the work of the Booking Specialist; participates in selection, training, discipline and related personnel decisions.
Participates in long range planning efforts to increase economic development in the community and generate revenue for the City.
Performs other related duties as assigned
|Knowledge of the general operation of various public assembly facilities relative to scheduling, set-up, tear-down and move out requirements.
Knowledge of convention sales, public relations, and marketing principles and practices.
Knowledge of effective supervisory principles and practices.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, staff, and the general public.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to review and explain complex contractual documents.
Ability to plan, organize, schedule and coordinate activities.
|Two (2) years college with courses in business management, convention planning and sales, public relations or related field, plus a minimum of four (4) years experience in sales and booking of public events or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.|
