|Designs and supervises the installment and maintenance of the parks irrigation systems. Plans, organizes, schedules and assigns work of skilled personnel and property control clerk. Coordinates work with other city departments and outside contractors.|
|Designs, implements and supervises the installment and maintenance of the parks irrigation system.
Plans, organizes and schedules work for skilled personnel and property control clerk. Performs cost analysis and inspects work to ensure safety and work standards are maintained.
Maintains inventory records of equipment, materials and supplies, monitors expenditure accounts and purchase necessary replacements as needed according to Purchasing procedures.
Interviews and evaluates applicants for vacant apprenticeship positions. Makes recommendations for the selection and promotion of Bureau Chief.
Instructs and trains employees in proper/safe operation of equipment, all aspects of parks maintenance, and Bureau performance standards.
Counsels employees as needed to resolve problems. Administers disciplinary actions according to City Policies and Procedures and union contracts; investigates and responds to grievances filed against Section.
Responds to citizen complaints/inquiries and initiates correction action as needed; keeps Bureau Chief apprised of complaints/inquiries and action taken.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
|Knowledge of irrigation systems, water regulations, drainage supplies and equipment and the layout of the city.
Ability to supervise and train subordinates engaged in parks maintenance.
Ability to establish new procedures and policies for production and water management.
Ability to establish and enforce safety standards and safe operating procedures.
Ability to effectively communicate with the general public, outside agencies, and City employees.
Ability to walk over uneven terrain for extended periods of time.
Ability to visually detect imperfections in work when performing inspections.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
|AA (Associate Degree) in parks, irrigation planning or closely related field and a minimum of two to three (2-3) years supervisory experience in parks maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Certification in Irrigation. A valid Florida Driver's License is required and a Commercial Driver's License may be required depending on area of assignment.
