| Performs administrative and professional work planning and coordinating Citywide public information and correspondence programs and initiatives for city departments and services. Serves as a secondary spokesperson for the Mayor's office and all city departments, writes and disseminates press materials, Mayor's letters, notices, newsletters, talking points and marketing collateral as needed, and assists with the organization of events and press conferences when needed. | |

Writes internal and external newsletters and maintains/manages constituent mailing lists and contact information.
Reads and assists in response to all Mayor's letters and electronic mail.
Conducts investigation of citizen inquiries and complaints regarding City Services, staff and policies and recommends appropriate action.
Assists in preparation of related correspondence and supporting documentation for the Mayor.
Develops Mayor's correspondence to citizens, employees and business and community leaders.
Assists in receiving, researching and responding to daily media calls.
Writes and disseminates all types of media materials including press releases, advisories key messages and talking points.
Researches, builds and maintains updated community leader and media databases.
Monitors local and regional news sources for topics of interest and importance to the Mayor and City of Orlando.
Serves as secondary spokesperson for the Mayor's Office and all other City departments. | |

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to represent the City at public speaking engagements.
Ability to assist in the development of speeches, including writing and editing.
Knowledge of statistical and other research methods and procedures.
Knowledge of integrated communications, media relations and local and regional media markets.
Performs other related duties as required. | |

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in English, communications, public relations or journalism and 2-3 years experience in public relations, communications, marketing or copywriting. Agency experience also a plus. Will consider an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
