|Performs technical and analytical work in computer systems analysis supporting Computer Operations. This position performs various analytical tasks related to efficiencies and effectiveness of production jobs, computer operation procedures and application implementation and support. Studies and makes recommendations for improvement of operational practices supporting application systems. This position also administers the Call Center application and associated databases, reviews and enters Project Requests that consist of equipment and/or service requests from end users throughout the City. Responsible for distributing project assignments to the support staff and works closely with Business Analysts, various technology support staff and client representatives. Acts as the manager of computer operations in the absence of the Computer Operations Manager overseeing and coordinating work for the section to include but not limited to: Computer Operations, Call Center, Computer Systems Support and Security Officers. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through observation and results obtained.|
|Reviews and analyzes Project Requests for completeness and technical accuracy.
Assigns project tasks to support personnel, including CSSA's, System/Network Administrators, Engineers, Telecommunication Technicians, Security Officers, and Software Support developers.
Coordinates project requests with Departmental Liaisons and client representatives.
Assists Computer Operations Manager in assignment and scheduling of personnel.
Manages Computer Operations staff in absence of Computer Operations Manager.
Analyzes and documents computer operations standards, procedures and practices.
Investigates and evaluates alternative hardware and/or software options relating to computer operations tasks.
Creates and administers Call Center user accounts and authorities.
Develops and administers Help Desk database import/export procedures.
Develops and provides management reports form Call Center database.
Educates department and client personnel with regard to computer operation practices and procedures in supporting new and current systems and applications.
Performs analysis of computer operation support for application systems.
Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge of various operating systems including desktop and mainframe/mini.
Knowledge of various backup technologies.
Knowledge of various network communication protocols.
Knowledge of file transfer practices and procedures.
Knowledge of Call Center procedures.
Knowledge of information systems, concepts, techniques and operating principles.
Skill in the operation of computers and peripheral equipment.
Ability to provide intradepartmental training to computer operators and others regarding computer operation policies, procedures and practices.
Ability to interpret technical information and clearly explain it in non-technical terms.
Ability to conduct research and express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by assignments.
Ability to read and understand program language manuals.
Ability to conduct tests, analyze test results, detect programming errors and take proper corrective action.
|Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related field and two (2) to three (3) years experience in computer operations, programming, system analysis, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A polygraph may be required for positions in this classification with access to security sensitive information/databases.
