|Coordinates, implements and oversees events on City's parks under contract. Assists in writing specifications. Designs, selects and coordinates annuals that are to be planted in the designated contracted area. Prepares and implements rules and procedures for each event. Supervises the work completed by the Department's Store Keeper. Is City's key person for events such as Hob-Nob, Winter Festival, Pet Fair, the Pallette of the Senses, held at Loch Haven Park. Works with Loch Haven Park Board.|
|Writes specifications for contracts and oversees all work to be done with successful bidders on job sites and see that contract specs are met.
Coordinates events for all parks contracted by the City with the public holding events. Enforces rules and guidelines on these sites.
Designs, selects and implements annuals that are to be planted for the designated areas under contract.
Design and implement rules and regulations for each event such as traffic and electrical systems.
Inspects various ROWs and parks to document plant material and turf condition as well as overall facility condition.
Review irrigation design and recommend improvements accordingly. Locate irrigation on sites having events.
Maintains records, monitors expenditure accounts and purchase necessary replacements as needed according to Purchasing procedures.
Establish and provides contractors with safety awareness and technical training.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
|Knowledge of the development, improvement and evaluation of landscape and maintenance programs of planting, irrigation, fertilization, chemical application and growing techniques.
Knowledge of insects, parasites, diseases and other infestations which affect plant life and the composition and application of insecticides, fungicides and disinfectants for their control.
Ability to supervise and train contractors engaged in park events.
Ability to establish and enforce safety standards and safe operating procedures.
Ability to work independently from most other City staff.
Ability to effectively communicate with the general public, outside agencies, and City employees.
Ability to walk over uneven terrain for extended periods of time.
Ability to visually detect imperfections in work when performing inspections.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
|High School diploma and two to three (2-3) years of supervisory experience in park maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid Florida Driver's License is required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Florida Driver's License required prior to employment.
