|SEIU White Collar Non-Exempt|
|Performs lead clerical/technical work in researching and verifying City sewers (laterals), force main and reuse lines for private contractors and consulting firms. Answers telephones and relays information found on the sewer maps to other City departments and the general public. Dispatches stop sewers to appropriate crews. Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with established procedures and performance is reviewed for technical accuracy by the supervisor.|
|Answers phones, takes locate information, looks up special information required for projects, contact customers for scheduling of locate requests.
Verifies exact location of our sewer laterals.
Responds to customer locate request in a reasonable time.
Ensures records are kept up to date.
Informs supervisor of daily situations.
Contacts supervisors using the radio.
Calls in excavations.
Schedules line locates.
Works with other City departments in relation to wastewater collection.
Organizes mylars and paper maps received from engineering to be logged in a recording system.
Assists and trains other members of the group.
Enters and retrieves information from a computerized database.
Performs other related work as assigned.
|Knowledge of the requirements of Sunshine One Call Program, location of reference documents, established policies and procedures of the section.
Knowledge of operating characteristics and maintenance of personal computer.
Skilled in software programs used by the section such as Lotus Notes, Excel, Word, etc.
Knowledge of the causes of data rejection or error and the action required for correction.
Knowledge of scheduling and priority of jobs applicable to personal computer operations in the area of assignment.
Knowledge of City streets and maps.
Possess a high level of customer service skill.
Ability to operate, enter and retrieve information from a personal computer.
Ability to prioritize assignments and work independently.
Ability to perform detail work quickly and accurately.
Ability to work with complex records.
Ability to read and interpret maps, charts and blueprints.
Ability to meet stringent deadlines.
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written.
|High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) to three (3) years experience in wastewater collection, or a related area, with the ability to read and interpret maps, charts, blueprints and engineering drawings; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must be able to operate personal computer and have experience in data entry. May be required to meet with contractors, vendors and the general public.
