|Performs clerical/technical work in researching and verifying City sewers (laterals), force main and reuse lines for private contractors and consulting firms. Answers telephones and relays information found on the sewer maps to other departments, contractors and the general public. Dispatches stop sewers to appropriate crews. Composes memorandums, letters, etc., orders departmental supplies, revises and develops forms, reports and spreadsheets. Maintains and updates a comprehensive filing system which includes maps, charts and blue prints. Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with established procedures and performance is reviewed for technical accuracy by the supervisor.|
|Researches, verifies and schedules sewer lines, locates of manholes, and sewer stoppages. Researches maps, charts, and blueprints.
Answers telephone, takes and relays correct information to and from sewer customers, contractors, etc. Processes incoming data from customers and vendors.
Verifies exact location of laterals and reports excavations and road depressions.
Files and keeps records up-to-date. Create, maintain and update computerized data systems.
Maintain, store, and analyze maps/plans to establish pertinent boundaries.
Uses a two-way radio to contact supervisors, crews and other departments. Advises staff and supervisors of meetings.
Inputs information into personal computer using Excel, Microsoft Word. Revises and develops formats for forms, reports and spreadsheets.
Transmit all Sunshine tickets to the utilities informing them of sewer line (s) in the area.
Performs other related work as assigned.
|Knowledge of the requirements of Sunshine One Call Program, location of reference documents, established policies and procedures of the section.
Knowledge of operating characteristics and maintenance of personal computer.
Knowledge of City streets and maps.
Skill in the operation of standard office equipment.
Skilled in software programs used by the section such as Lotus Notes, Excel, Word, etc.
Possess a high level of customer service skill.
Ability to properly receive and document incoming phone messages and Sunshine One Call work tickets.
Ability to use City Engineering plans to locate lines and provide accurate field reference locations.
Ability to comply with requirements of Sunshine One Call Program and policies and procedures of Section.
Ability to perform detail work quickly and accurately.
Ability to work with complex records.
Ability to read and interpret maps, charts and blueprints.
Ability to meet stringent deadlines.
|High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months to one (1) year experience in wastewater collection, or a related area, with the ability to read and interpret maps, charts, blueprints and engineering drawings; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must be able to operate personal computer and have experience in data entry.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR PROMOTION: Last performance evaluation must have resulted in an overall rating of Meets Standards or better with no factor rating less than Meets Standards.
