|Performs responsible supervisory and administrative work for several crews that repair, maintain and construct city streets. This position is responsible for the preparation of daily work schedules for several crews, tracking and recording data from crew generated timesheets, reading and creating emails and recording information in an electronic work order data base. This position supervises and schedules work for Field Supervisors, Crew Leaders, and Equipment Operators, of all levels, within the Street Maint/Const. Program. An employee assigned to this classification is responsible for responding to citizen complaints and makes recommendations for problem resolution. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Street Maintenance/Construction Program Manager and is reviewed through conferences, oral/written reports and results obtained.|
|Prepares daily schedules and assignments for several crews to perform work.
Prepares forms and calls for underground utility locations in preparation of crews to perform their assignments.
Orders support materials and supplies (i.e., concrete, asphalt, brick, tools and equipment) that are necessary for crews to perform their jobs.
Supervises and inspects several crews on a daily basis for productivity and quality control.
Performs personal inspection of citizen referrals as they are received, talk to the homeowners to answer questions and inform them of Division/Program procedures.
Track daily production from crew generated time sheets.
Organize and complete work orders that include dates, personnel and materials used to complete tasks within prescribed time frames.
Recommends the selection, training, discipline, and/or termination of employees. Insures that all personnel assigned to program adhere to safety codes.
Performs other duties as assigned.
|Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in sidewalk, driveway, curb, street, guardrail and fence construction, maintenance and repair.
Knowledge of work-zone safety practices.
Knowledge of Florida One Call underground utility locating system.
Knowledge of concrete and asphalt mixing formulas and what is required for each type of sidewalk of road.
Knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling techniques.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions.
Knowledge of local and state street and sidewalk construction and maintenance rules, regulations, laws, and ordinances.
Skilled in the proper operation and use of roadway and concrete construction equipment and tools.
Skilled in concrete finishing, brick street laying, and asphalt work.
Skilled in the operation of portable underground utility locating devices.
Ability to manage the work of a large, diversified staff effectively.
Ability to read and interpret complex plans, sketches, diagrams, blueprints, and charts.
Ability to coordinate underground utility locates, supplies, equipment and manpower to complete repairs and construction projects on time, within budget and of high quality.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinate personnel, other employees, municipal officials, and the general public.
Ability to perform duties under adverse conditions such as extreme weather, exposure to fumes, chemicals, insects, noise and confined areas.
|High school graduate plus a minimum of four (4) years responsible experience in roadway, concrete, and asphalt construction and repair, two of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess a valid Florida CDL class B prior to employment.
