|Under general supervision, performs professional work in the Office of Communications involving research, writing, and editing press releases, talking points, and City's newsletter; responds to inquiring from the press and the public; assists with planning special events, speaking engagements, and community initiatives; and performs other related duties as assigned.|
|Writes and edits press releases to the media.
Prepares and/or edits and coordinates articles for the City's newsletter.
Prepares information to be included in the City's website.
May assist with design and layout of articles and information prepared.
May research information to be used in articles or to respond to inquiries.
Responds appropriately to inquiries regarding various issues or events.
May assists with event planning and activities.
Maintains accurate files of articles and supporting documents.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Strong computer skills including word processing and desktop publishing software
|Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, or other related field, and a minimum of a year experience in communications, copy editing, public relations, or other related work; or equivalent combination of education and experience.|
