|Performs responsible work managing the Employee Occupational Health and Wellness sections. This includes duties such as identifying health and wellness needs, prioritizing interventions, developing and implementing interventions and programs, managing staff, and evaluating care and service delivery. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through reports, conferences, and attainment of goals and objectives.|
|Conducts research and develops proposals regarding medical standards and industry regulations.
Investigation, monitoring, and analysis of illness and injury episodes and trends as well as methods to promote and protect employee health and wellness.
Consults with agencies, risk management, safety personnel, physicians, and other entities as needed, on employee health care issues.
Health hazard assessment and surveillance of employee populations, workplaces, and community.
Provides counseling and health education to all employees.
Collaboration with Safety Personnel and City of Orlando Management, to assure compliance with laws, regulations, and City standards governing health for employees and the environment.
Develops, implements, and monitors program budgets for achievement of goals and objectives; maintains activity records and prepares periodic activity and budget reports.
Manages and directs the wellness program.
Assesses health and wellness training needs of all levels of employees by use of questionnaires, discussions with management, and by examining accident/incident history.
Confers with doctors, lawyers, judges and insurance carriers, and may attend hearings, mediations and trials. Performs other duties as may be assigned.
|Knowledge of occupational health principles and practices and the ability to apply them.
Knowledge of occupational medical management software.
Knowledge of OSHA, Workers' Compensation, FDOT and Drug Free Work Place.
Knowledge of the Workers' Compensation statutes and other Federal and State laws related to employee health and wellness.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to plan, prepare and deliver effective training programs and to stimulate enthusiasm in participants.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City departmental officials, professional organizations and agencies, employees and the general public.
Ability to organize, plan, and implement administrative programs.
Ability to analyze information accurately and prepare clear and concise reports.
Ability to operate a personal computer.
Ability to plan, assign and review the work of subordinate staff.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform duties under adverse conditions such as exposure to communicable diseases.
Ability to identify employee health hazards, and to develop and implement effective programming to eliminate or minimize those hazards.
Ability to communicate cooperatively and constructively with all employees, management, and all other entities as required.
|Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field and four (4) or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Management experience desired. Current Florida License in nursing or related health field is required and certification in Occupational Health is strongly preferred.
