|Performs administrative and supervisory work in the area of security and protective service for the Venues facilities. An employee assigned to this classification serves as an assistant to the Venues Security Manager and is responsible for implementation of security and crowd control plans for events held at the stadium, arena, theatre and other Venues facilities as well as internal and external surveillance of the buildings and grounds. Reasonable initiative and independent judgment is required to effectively respond to the numerous situations thereby protecting property and lives of those utilizing these facilities. Work is performed under general supervision of the Venues Security Manager and performance is reviewed through discussions, reports submitted and results obtained.|
|Prepares work schedules and ensures that facilities are properly staffed with Security Personnel for each shift and all events. Supervises and directs activities of Security Officers and temporary T-Shirt Security personnel.
Participates in the development of security and crowd control programs and procedures for the Orlando Venues Department to effectively guard/protect property and patrons from illegal/unauthorized entry, theft, vandalism, acts of violence or other undesirable activity.
Explains security rules and regulations and supervises subordinates in enforcing compliance.
Prepares and verifies payroll, and duty assignments for events; reviews invoices for contracted security services, uniforms, equipment, etc. and recommends payment.
Participates in the interview, selection, counseling, and appraisal of employees; recommends disciplinary actions, promotions, and related personnel actions.
Participates in planning safety and security operations for events held at the Arena, Citrus Bowl and other Venues facilities; assesses events and provides input regarding security requirements and staffing needs to ensure adequate protection of the facilities, entertainers, promoters and citizens.
Monitors security and crowd control activities during events to ensure compliance with policies and procedures; responds to questions and complaints and resolves problems with personnel and/or patrons. Operates golf cart motorcycle to patrol grounds.
Inspects facilities to identify and correct security and safety related violations. Inspects subordinates and their equipment to ensure standards are maintained.
Participates in development and administration of annual operating budget.
Conducts staff training in protective/security procedures first aid, and fire safety. Maintains training records.
Maintains inventory of materials, equipment, and supplies; purchases replacement items when needed in accordance with departmental policy.
Oversees the receipt, security, and release of lost and found items.
Performs other related duties as required.
|Knowledge of safety and security practices and procedures as they relate to public facilities.
Knowledge of local and/or state regulations governing security of public assembly facilities.
Knowledge of basic life saving techniques (CPR and first aid).
Knowledge of effective supervisory principles, practices, and techniques.
Knowledge of personal computer operations and software applications.

Ability to work irregular hours and days as required for safety and security needs.

|Associate Degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or related field plus two (2) to three (3) years security/safety or law enforcement experience, one (1) of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must pass background investigation, which includes polygraph. CPR and First Aid Card desired. A valid Florida Driver's License is required.|
