|Performs administrative work managing the Mayor's Business Assistance Team, a cross-departmental team of city staff with various disciplines that fulfills a vital role in resolving issues for business clients. An employee assigned to this position assists new and existing businesses throughout the various stages of their growth and development. An employee in this class is responsible for providing enhanced and continuous education to the business community regarding the City's regulatory processes and requirements and in assisting businesses to successfully navigate through the City's various departments and processes. The employee exercises considerable initiative and independent judgment in the performance of duties. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Business Assistance Manager and is reviewed through observation, conference with the employee and by evaluation of work projects.|
|Serves as the main point of contact to help guide businesses through the City's various departments, regulations and processes.
Acts as a liaison between businesses and the various City regulatory departments in order to expedite the satisfactory resolution of problems for businesses.
Develops and maintains a cooperative and supportive atmosphere, on behalf of the City, with the business community.
Promotes the City's partner economic development organizations and business assistance programs to encourage business recruitment, retention and creation efforts in the City of Orlando.
Manages the Mayor's Business Assistance Team, a cross-departmental team of city staff with various disciplines that fulfills a vital role in resolving issues for business clients.
Builds relationships with the business community by coordinating Mayor and Commissioner business tours, performing site visits to a variety of businesses, networking and correspondence.
Performs other related duties as required by the Director of EDV.
|Knowledge of the City of Orlando's services, programs, codes, regulations, ordinances and policies pertaining to businesses.
Knowledge of the state of Florida's services, programs, codes, regulations, ordinances and policies pertaining to business.
Knowledge of current business, economic and demographic trends in the Orlando area.
Knowledge of research techniques and available sources of current information.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration and business administration.
Skilled in the use of a computer to prepare clear and concise correspondence and reports.
Ability to use of negotiation, mediation, explanation and education of the City and state's economic development programs and organizations.
Ability to coordinate, implement, review and evaluate programs.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in analyzing facts and trends, identifying alternative solutions and determining the consequences of proposed actions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of individuals and groups, including elected officials, business entrepreneurs, representatives of public and private agencies, fellow employees and the general public.
Ability to speak before large groups.
|Bachelor's degree in planning, public administration, business administration or related field and four (4) years experience in the economic development, business development or business promotion; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.|
