Minimum Starting Salary:
Mechanic I: $10.55 per hour (Grade L02)
Mechanic II: $12.13 per hour (Grade L03)
Mechanic III: $13.54 per hour (Grade L04)
Mechanic IV: $15.02 per hour (Grade L05)
NATURE OF WORK:

Performs mechanical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater lift stations and treatment equipment and machinery. Determines nature of malfunctions and suggests how to repair it, or if equipment should be returned to the shop for a major overhaul. Decides when shafts need lubricating, additional oil for the engine is needed, plugs, points, etc. May be required to work in confined spaces.

WORK SCHEDULE/LOCATION: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Lift Stations Section, 5100 L.B. McLeod Road, Orlando. Schedule of work and location subject to change based on division requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

ALL LEVELS: Must own a standard set of mechanic tools. Valid Florida driver license required at time of employment. Must have a home telephone, or otherwise be able reliably to be contacted in case of an emergency work situation. Must pass annual respirator physical; no facial hair allowed between the face and sealing surface of the respirator face piece. Must obtain security clearance and GOAA ID within 90 days of employment and maintain same.

MECHANIC I: High school graduate plus one year mechanic experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must have a minimum of 2,025 hours OJT. Experience in wastewater lift stations preferred.

MECHANIC II: High school graduate plus two years of mechanic experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must have a minimum of 2,025 hours OJT. Experience in wastewater lift stations preferred.

MECHANIC III: High school graduate plus three years of mechanic experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must have a minimum of 4,050 hours OJT. Experience in wastewater lift stations preferred.

MECHANIC IV: High school graduate plus four years of mechanic experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must have a minimum of 6,075 hours OJT. Experience in wastewater lift stations preferred.

VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT.
