Minimum Starting Salary: $13.45 per hour
NATURE OF WORK:
Performs specialized work in the area of recreation and leisure services, specifically with older adults. Responsible for performing activities of average difficulty at the Beardall Senior Center. Under general supervision, the employee performs tasks which included leading, supervising and officiating at a variety of events, programs and activities geared for senior citizens. May be given responsibility for a City-wide program and may work out of several centers of different levels. Expected to exercise some initiative and independent judgment in planning and conducting activities and events for older adults. Work at night and on weekends is required. Some work is performed outdoors and involves exposure to weather conditions including heat. May assist with maintenance duties, including cleaning, set-up and breakdown of events. Assists in administrative procedures which are involved in the design and conduct of recreation programs. Work is reviewed through periodic observation by a Center Manager while in progress and through reports submitted.
High school diploma or equivalent and one year of work experience in organized recreation and/or leisure services; or an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience. Experience with senior citizens and at a community center is preferred. Florida driver license required. Must pass criminal background check and polygraph examination.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
