Starting Salary: $13.45 per hour
Grade: S19
NATURE OF WORK:

Performs paraprofessional work involving the performance of non-emergency law enforcement duties, including but not limited to responding to non-violent criminal incidents, accidents, and police service calls, and preparation of related reports. Work is performed under general supervision and performance is reviewed through reports submitted, meetings, and results obtained. Involves the ability to lift objects/items up to 50 pounds. Involves frequent standing, walking, bending, sitting, and exposure to traffic noise and inclement weather.

REQUIRED TO WORK ROTATING SHIFTS WITH ROTATING DAYS OFF. NEWLY HIRED OFFICERS AGREE IN WRITING TO MAKE A TWO-YEAR COMMITMENT TO THE DEPARTMENT.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High school graduate or equivalent with six months of related experience. Florida driver license required. Must successfully complete 19-week academy training and 15-week field training. Training academy is full-time days, fully paid. Selected candidates serve a one-year probationary period.

Required to pass Writing Skills test, which will be administered on Wednesday morning, December 19 at City Hall, 400 S. Orange Avenue. Must apply as specified above, clear prescreening, and receive invitation to written test administration to participate.

Also required to pass medical and psychological examinations and a thorough background check which includes polygraph. Must be of good moral character: no felony or misdemeanor convictions (within five years of the date of application) involving moral character, perjury, or false statements. Must be able to meet very restrictive drug standard.

MUST LIVE WITHIN FORTY-FIVE (45) MINUTES DRIVING TIME OR THIRTY (30) MILES FROM POLICE HEADQUARTERS IN DOWNTOWN ORLANDO.
