|NATURE OF WORK:
Enforces the City code through the inspection of trees on residential, commercial, industrial, and public properties to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and ordinances, in particular the condition of trees on public and private property. Work involves interactions with citizens, City management, and elected officials. Involves the ability to physically perform inspections, which involves walking, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and operating an automobile. Involves the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing / presentations before the Code Enforcement Board, court, and hearing officers.
CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER I: High school graduate plus three years experience in forestry/arboriculture, housing and zoning inspection, state or local government law enforcement, and/or construction trades; or an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience. Must be able to read and understand maps, building plans, and blueprints, and identify trees common to the Orlando area. ISA Certified Arborist® required. Florida driver license required. Must pass criminal background check and polygraph examination. Knowledge of City's Landscape and Tree Ordinance regulations helpful.
CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER II: Same as Code Enforcement Officer I, above, except requires five years experience as detailed.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
