Computer Support Spec I/II/III

Starting Salary Ranges:
Computer Support Specialist I: $14.40 to 17.99 per hour, depending on qualifications (Grade S18)
Computer Support Specialist II: $15.41 to 19.26 per hour, depending on qualifications (Grade S17)
Computer Support Specialist III: $16.47 to 20.60 per hour, depending on qualifications (Grade S16)
NATURE OF WORK:
Performs technical work in receiving, analyzing, trouble shooting, and referring calls from employees who report problems associated with information technology (IT), including but not limited to communications and computer applications, networks, software, and external services. Completes technical job functions and answers technical questions. Logs support calls, obtaining essential information from Clients in order to solve problems and guiding them through lengthy instructions of how to perform specific tasks. If not able to assist the Client, process the call for service to the next support level. This requires a working knowledge of applications, communication services, personal computing devices, and an overall awareness of the City's organizational structure. Computer Support Specialists input, update and assist others with Project Service Request Forms relating to all City departments. Computer Support Specialists provide on-call IT support for nights, weekends and holidays. Computer Support Specialists release and verify completion of certain batch processes related to scheduled enterprise data processing. Work is performed under the supervision of a Client Support Services Manager and is reviewed through examination of system data, logs, effectiveness of results achieved, and feedback from clients and coworkers.
COMPUTER SUPPORT SPECIALIST I: Associate degree or equivalent (60 credit hours college) and two years work experience providing IT customer support or client support, involving telecommunications, computer applications, networks, software, or coordinating support with external IT service providers, or an equivalent combination of related training and experience. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot simple desktop computing problems, as well as provide and communicate effective instructions over the phone required. Excellent writing skills, as well as specialized training in applications and utilities used within the City of Orlando are preferred. Must pass criminal background check and polygraph examination.
COMPUTER SUPPORT SPECIALIST II: Same as Computer Support Specialist I, above, except requires four years work experience as specified.
COMPUTER SUPPORT SPECIALIST III: Same as Computer Support Specialist II, above, except requires six years work experience as specified.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PROVIDED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
