Project Manager I

Starting Salary Range: $49,346 to 65,787 per year, depending on qualifications
NATURE OF WORK:
Performs administrative and professional work involving the quality control of pavement preservation and stormwater projects in the City's Streets and Stormwater Division. Analyzes and defines the scope and budget of projects with the Division Manager and City Engineer. Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities to ensure projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Work is performed under the general direction of the Division Manager. Performance is reviewed on a periodic basis through both formal and informal meetings and reports.
SOME EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: Works with the Purchasing Division in the preparation and development of IFB's, RFP's and/or RFQ's in the solicitation for services such as FDR, Milling and Resurfacing, Curb work, etc. Creates Fiscal Impact Statements. Writes Council Agenda items to obtain authorization to negotiate with contractors and consultants. Schedules and conducts meetings with contractors/consultants to negotiate terms and conditions of contracts. Reviews plans, specifications and construction cost estimates within the Streets and Stormwater division.
Bachelor degree in civil engineering, architecture, or construction management and four years experience in the area of design and project management, a significant portion of which must have included pavement design, rehabilitation, and preservation; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Track record in performing pavement condition assessments and managing a significant inventory of roadways using the Pavement Management System (PMS) model required. Florida driver license required.
