|Starting Salary: $34,255 to 42,831 per year, depending on qualifications
|NATURE OF WORK:
Performs analytical work reviewing, organizing, and assessing crime information to identify patterns and common characteristics of crimes, summarizing data, and preparing reports indicating crime trends. Performs statistical work collecting, assessing, calculating, and preparing reports on crime data for the Department. Responsibilities include: developing materials for selection, assembly, and organization of significant crime data to permit analysis; researching, organizing, correlating, and analyzing crime data; and participating in the development and implementation of effective law-enforcement programs to improve criminal apprehension and crime prevention. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Intelligence Unit Supervisor and is reviewed through discussions and reports submitted.
Bachelor degree in criminal justice, criminology, sociology, political science, or related field and one year experience as an analyst or research assistant; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must pass criminal background check and polygraph examination. Florida driver license required. One year experience in Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. Finalists will be tested in Microsoft Word, Excel, and general knowledge of crime analysis.
Experience and training in ESRI (ArcGIS) software. FDLE Analyst certification. Work experience as an analyst or researcher in the law-enforcement field.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
