|Middle Management/Professional/NM AD|
|Performs professional work directing, planning and supervising the maintenance, programming and public relation functions. Work involves planning, developing and implementing short, medium and long-range goals for the gardens. A position in this classification oversees the activities of staff who install and maintain the gardens. Work is performed under the supervision of the Executive Director and is reviewed through periodic conferences, reports, and program evaluations.|
|Responsible for ensuring the quality of the gardens are not compromised and produces plans for designing and installing temporary and permanent plantings.
Coordinates development and maintenance of physical plant including the preparation, review and administration of plans specs and contracts with various department representatives related to the Garden's Master Plan.
Schedules horticultural work to be done by horticulture staff and oversees all aspects.
Orders plants, fertilizer, tools and materials for smooth operation of daily horticulture tasks.
Performs other related work as assigned.
|Considerable knowledge and experience in planning and project management.
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of botanic garden administration.
Considerable knowledge of horticulture programs, displays, and research methods.
Ability to analyze information, provide solutions and solve problems.
Ability to physically inspect the work of subordinates.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Ability to plan, direct, and coordinate the work of subordinates.
Ability to establish objectives, implement procedures, measure results, and evaluate effectiveness.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, and the general public.
|Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Botany or related field and two (2) to three (3) years of experience in the management of botanical gardens or cultural facility; or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience. Valid Florida Drivers License is required.
