|Performs professional and administrative work in the Office of Neighborhood Services, with responsibility for developing and administering Neighborhood Watch Programs. Duties include planning, developing, and promoting CNW programs and activities; conferring with and coordinating activities with Orlando Police Department and residents of Orlando; supervising staff and volunteers; identifying areas of need in the community that could be addressed by the Neighborhood Watch Program and designing and implementing programs to meet these needs.|
|Administers and manages the Citizens for Neighborhood Watch Program, including financial planning and budgeting, preparing and prioritizing program goals and objectives and supervision of CNW staff.
Recruits, trains and coordinates activities of the CNW volunteers.
Researches and conducts surveys and studies to identify emerging areas of need in the community that could be addressed through Neighborhood Watch; develops new programs and plans to meet these needs.
Develops and implements procedural methods and manuals for the CNW program to meet citizen needs.
Coordinates procedures and programs with OPD Community Relations officers to generate support for all Neighborhood Watch activity for the City.
Coordinates and conducts Neighborhood Watch meetings.
Plans, schedules, organizes, and conducts Neighborhood Watch leadership training meetings and forums.
Develops a Neighborhood Watch public awareness campaign, coordinates distribution of public information, develops speeches and designs program literature; responds to the electronic and printed media concerning Neighborhood Watch.
Selects, provides direction and support to the CNW Citizens Advisory Council.
Speaks before special interest and citizen groups to disseminate information, answer questions and generate support for the CNW program.
Analyzes the effectiveness of CNW and develop long-range planning to assure the continuation of CNW.
Prepares monthly activity reports and annual budget reports to reflect program achievements and progress toward existing goals.
Plans and implements volunteer recognition and appreciation functions, i.e., annual leaders forum, ice cream social for all CNW members, etc.
Writes, edits, and coordinates articles for the quarterly Watch Works! newsletter.
Attends Florida Crime Prevention Training Institute schools and seminars to keep abreast of current trends in crime prevention.
Maintains personal contact with CNW leaders to generate support and promote stability in the leadership.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, department heads, law enforcement officials, citizens groups, news media, and the general public.
Ability to develop and administer an annual operating budget.
Ability to present programs and ideas orally and in writing and to speak effectively to public groups and civic organizations.
|Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related field. Experience should include a minimum of two years of crime prevention or educational development, the ability to develop and implement programs, planning and administration, coordination of volunteers, public speaking, writing, and public relations. Media relations and evaluation skills desirable. Florida driver's license required prior to employment. Must pursue Florida certification as a Crime Prevention Practitioner upon employment with the first year. Must pass police background investigation which includes polygraph.
