|Performs specialized work in the area of Recreation and leisure services. An employee in this class of work is responsible for performing activities of average difficulty at an assigned recreation area. Under general supervision, the employee performs tasks which include leading, supervising and officiating at a variety of sports, games and programs. Employee may be responsible for a city-wide program and may work out of several centers of different levels. The employee is required to exercise some initiative and independent judgment in planning and conducting playground or center activities for all ages. Work at night and on weekends is required. Some work is performed outdoors and an employee is exposed to weather conditions including heat. An employee in this position assists in administrative procedures which are involved in the design and conduct of recreation programs. Work is reviewed through periodic observation by a Center Manager while in progress and through reports submitted.|
|Plans, promotes and conducts recreational activities; teaches and supervises games, arts and crafts and sports; organizes sports, social activities and special events; schedules center and playground activities; counsels participants as necessary; supervises and leads persons of all ages.
Provides leadership in the promotion of programs through community presentations and marketing.
Collects, receipts and deposits all center and program fees; bills community groups and processes check requests for contractual instructors.
Maintains discipline at assigned area and confers with parents regarding severe discipline problems; teaches fair play and sportsmanship; administers first aid; promotes safety; maintains athletic equipment; performs field maintenance as necessary; inspects recreation facilities, apparatus and equipment to insure safety; maintains inventory of supplies; submits requisition for needed repairs and supplies.
Maintains accurate records of attendance, property damage, special activities, and accidents; attends and conducts sessions at meetings, workshops and training clinics; coordinates programs and activities with co?workers and supervisor; assists in evaluation
of lower level employees; promotes good public relations with community.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Working knowledge of instructional techniques when assigned to a pre?school.
Some knowledge of first aid techniques.
Some knowledge of records keeping and report writing techniques.

|Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma and one (1) year of experience in organized recreation and/or leisure services field; or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience. Valid Florida driver's license is required. Commercial Driver's License maybe required depending on area of assignment. Polygraph and criminal background check required. Some college coursework desired.
