|Performs specialized recreation work in the provision of leisure programs, sports and other recreational actives for various age and ability individuals and groups. Assisting a Recreation Supervisor in the operation of a community center in the overall organization and delivery of general recreational activities, leagues, special events, clinics and seasonal programs. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Recreation supervisor and is reviewed while in progress and upon completion by observation and through reports submitted. Some positions may require working outdoors and the employee may be occasionally exposed to extreme heat and insects. Employee must work evenings and weekends. Includes maintaining log/records collection of membership and/or rental fees, preparing financial reports, attendance reports, open/close facility.|
|Assists the facility supervisor in promoting center programs including planning, organizing, teaching and leading various age and ability individuals and groups in general and specialized recreational activities that may include arts and crafts, athletics and leagues, special events and seasonal programs.
May assist in coaching, refereeing and officiating various team athletics and in maintaining good sportsmanship on the part of participants and spectators.
Maintains records and prepares reports as directed.
Explains center's rules, policies, procedures and programs to public, enforcing safety policies and procedures to keep facilities and grounds safe for participants and spectators.
Maintains center supplies and informs supervisor when orders are needed.
Assist in the performance of minor maintenance of assigned facility, including turning off all lights, air/conditioning or heating units, locking all gates and doors, putting money and valuables in safe, setting alarm, securing all equipment, furniture, etc.
|Some knowledge of the rules, practices and techniques of public recreational activities and programs.
Some knowledge of major athletic rules and regulations.
Some knowledge of basic public safety.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to keep records and prepare related reports.
Ability to lift 40 lbs., if area of assignment requires moving equipment.
Ability to organize and actively participate in various indoors and outdoor recreational programs and special events.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and citizens of all ages and diverse cultural backgrounds.
Ability to schedule reservations to endure proper class/program size.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays.
|High school student with one (1) year experience in recreation field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Some positions may require a possession of a valid Florida driver's license.
Required to pass background investigation, which includes a polygraph.
