|SANITATION EQ OPR-RECYCLING|
|Performs responsible semi-skilled and skilled work operating recycling collection vehicles. Involves knowledge of appropriate method for lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling heavy bins and containers in varying climatic conditions. Work is performed under the supervision of a Sanitation Section Supervisor and performance is reviewed while in progress and upon completion through direct observation of routes, trip tickets, and discussion of problems.|
|Operates Burro/trailer on designated route to collect recycled material; ensures completion of work in the prescribed time.
Takes full loads of recyclables from route to transfer station or landfill.
Cleans vehicle upon completing daily tasks.
Answers questions fror residents and directs them to contact the Recycling office for any additional information.
Completes daily activity tickets.
Delivers recycling bins, and educational materials to new participants.
Completes daily truck check list before leaving the yard.
Turns vehicle into Fleet Maintenance for repairs and preventive maintenance.
May be required to work during emergency situations.
Performs any other duties assigned by the Solid Waste Management Bureau.
|Knowledge of safe use and operation of recycling collection equipment.
Knowledge of department policy relating to solid waste collection.
Knowledge of traffic laws, occupational hazards, and appropriate safety precautions.
Knowledge of City streets and collection routes.
Knowledge of appropriate methods for lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling heavy bins and containers.
Skilled in the operation of solid waste recycling collection vehicles.
Ability to read write, and follow instructions.
Ability to lift collection containers, bend, and climb.
Exposed to extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold and rain.
|Must be able to read, write and follow instructions. Two (2) years experience operating heavy equipment vehicles of 18,000 GVW or greater and be familiar with the operations of hydraulics; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Completion of Solid Waste Driver's Training program will substtitute for required expereince. A valid CDL class B driver's license from any State required prior to employment. A valid Florida CDL class B driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of employment.|
