|Plans, directs, organizes and controls the staff, budget and functions of the Office of Communications under the administrative direction of the Chief of Staff to the Mayor and is reviewed through reports submitted, conferences and results achieved. Provides leadership in the creation and implementation of major communication initiatives for the City of Orlando and its partner entities; oversees and implements external and internal communications and marketing initiatives; consults on media relations, design and development of communications initiatives, materials and planning.|
|Develops, directs and implements communications strategies for the City of Orlando in conjunction with its partner entities.
Plans and implements strategies, policies, procedures and programs for all areas/phases of communications.
Responsible for developing annual communications plans including goals, strategies and tactics and performance measurements.
Directs and supervises the operation of the communications staff dedicated to planning and implementing effective communications strategies.
Directs and oversees the creative and production aspects of all audio, video, electronic and written forms of communication, as well as special events.
Assists the Press Office in the development of City messaging and ensures proper messaging in all forms of city communication.
Works in conjunction with the Office of Community and Neighborhood Affairs to expand the City's outreach and information delivery to citizens.
Develops and coordinates the production and dissemination of information pertinent to the City of Orlando programs, leadership and staff in various materials.
Recommends courses of action City of Orlando leaders for improving communication strategies.
Negotiates and prepares proposals for new communications-related projects.
Coordinates departmental administrative functions such as the development of annual operating budgets and related reports, personnel management functions and the development and/or revision of office policies and procedures.
Manages and generates the office's annual operating budget, monthly/quarterly reports, grant applications, and related documents.
Reviews and monitors office expenses for accuracy and compliance with policies and authorizes all office payments.
Coordinates and monitors the office property inventory and control.
Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

|Work requires communication, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of an accredited bachelor's degree program in Journalism, Communications, English or a related discipline. Master's Degree course work in communications, marketing, public administration or public relations preferred. Professional writing experience a plus. Work requires a minimum of five years of senior level experience in marketing, communications or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience|
