|EDV SPECIAL ASSISTANT|

|Performs professional work in public relations for the EDV Department, providing written materials, marketing and media expertise to the EDV Department and its Director. Oversees department marketing and communication materials for the EDV Department. Work is performed under the administrative direction of the EDV Director and is reviewed through reports submitted, conferences, and results achieved.|
|Serves as liaison for the EDV Department in matters pertaining to programs, activities and initiatives of the EDV Department.
Coordinates outreach activities for the EDV Department.
Researches and prepares background material for outreach activities; writes articles, essays and other material for presentations by the EDV Department.
Develops long-range publicity and implementation strategies to increase public awareness of the EDV's program initiatives.
Initiates and coordinates local, national and international exposure for Orlando to encourage investment, business relocation and expansion.
Maintains market data and information.
Maintains working relationship with the City's Press secretary and their staff.
Proactively publicizes EDV programs locally and regionally.
Works with EDV staff to advise and coordinate public relations efforts for major announcements.
Monitors local and regional news sources for topics of interest and importance to the EDV Director and the City of Orlando.
|Knowledge of municipal government, including objectives, programs, projects, activities and challenges.
knowledge of integrated communications, media relations and local and regional media markets.
Skilled in the preparation and production of printed and audio/visual materials.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to assimilate data and information.
Ability to write speeches on various issues.
Performs other related duties as required by the Director of EDV.
|Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public relations, journalism, English or communications and two(2) to (5) years experience in public relations or news writing or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Agency, speech writing, and copy writing experience also preferred.|
