|Processes requisitions, assists customers at parts counter, places orders, receives and tracks inventory including parts and equipment for fleet/facility; confers with mechanics, technicians, and vendors regarding parts information and availability; performs inventory control and warehousing activities which involve manual labor and clerical duties; assembles hydraulic hoses; and performs other duties as assigned. Note: Level III is distinguished from the lower levels by possession of ASE certificate, having significant latitude in performing full range of duties, and advising others in specific areas of expertise.|
|Processes requisitions, orders vehicle parts, and confers with mechanics, technicians, and vendors regarding parts required to solve problems, availability, and other related information; prepares appropriate documents, updates logs, and enters data in system; maintains and utilizes parts catalog, literature, and price lists.
Works the parts counter, handles inquiries, issues items, and orders supplies in response to authorized requisitions or as required by work orders; updates perpetual inventory records as items issued; informs supervisor when supplies are in short supply and initiates procedures to replenish supplies.
Provides advise to others regarding technical matters relative to work in this series and troubleshoots difficult problems in specific areas of expertise; may assists with training and reviewing work of lower level non-certified employees.
Assists with inventory control; takes physical inventory on a routine basis such as annual, quarterly, and monthly cycles; assists in moving supplies from one area to another as stock is reclassified or relocated; rearranges stock in bulk storage areas as assigned; places items on shelves or bins as appropriate; climbs ladders and uses fork lift as necessary to unload shipments and handle materials while following safety procedures; monitors inventory stock levels to ensure perpetual supply; maintains cleanliness of work area.
Receives, unloads, and verifies shipments, material, or items received and matches packing slips, invoices, or other documents and makes notes of discrepancies such as partial shipments, incorrect items, or damages and advices supervisor; repackages items for return shipment as necessary.
Assembles hydraulic hoses which require operating shop equipment such as crimpers, saws, calipers and other tools.
Participates in emergency response situations when necessary in accordance with Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
Performs clerical work such as filing, record keeping, computer use, and simple office equipment.
|Knowledge of automobile technology including vehicle systems and diagnosis.
Knowledge of the processes, procedures, and practices for ordering parts and using catalogs and other material.
Knowledge of inventory control and warehousing policies, procedures, and methods.
Knowledge of math including interpretation of decimals and fractions, perform conversions, and financial transactions.
Communication skills required to assist customers, process orders, and follow instructions.
Computer skills needed to operate inventory management database and financial records systems.
Ability to read, interpret, and effectively utilize parts catalogs, price lists, and other related information..
Ability to advise others on technical matters or difficult problems relative to work in series and troubleshoot in area of expertise.
Ability to perform clerical duties, enter data into computer system, and file accurately.
Ability to use computer such as to enter information regarding stocks disburses and maintain accurate perpetual inventory records.
Ability to provide good customer service.
Ability to assemble hydraulic hoses and follow safety procedures.
Ability to perform manual work including shipping and receiving material, stock, or equipment in warehouse.
Ability to operate a fork lift and motor vehicle.
Ability to establish and develop effective and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
|High school or GED and three (3) years experience or other equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must possess an ASE parts specialist certificate in either automobile or medium/heavy trucks specialty as appropriate.
Valid Florida driver's license required.
