|SEIU Supervisor Non-Exempt|
|Performs skilled mechanical and first-line supervisory work involving the maintenance and repair of lift station and/or treatment plant machinery and equipment. Work is performed under general supervision and performance is reviewed while in progress and upon completion through inspection of equipment, direct observation, and performance of equipment and conferences with management.|
|Assigns and reviews the work of several mechanics that perform a variety of skilled tasks involving the installation, maintenance and repair of lift station and treatment plant equipment and machinery such as chemical feed, wash systems, aeration equipment, blowers, deviating equipment, chlorination equipment, chlorine lines, various pumps, clarifiers, deep bed filters, odor control systems, and related machinery.
Performs complex mechanical work such as disassembling, rebuilding, and reassembling of pumps, motors, valves, blowers, chlorinators, fine screens, and comminuters; replaces plugs, repairs carburetors, ejector pumps, submersible pumps, engines, and other related equipment.
Trouble shoots equipment, and determines cause of malfunctions and appropriate corrective methods; may perform repairs as needed.
Directs the closure of sewage lines, transfers sewage flow to another pump and sets-up bypass pumps as needed.
Performs machinist duties as required, to include the use of lathe, milling machines, etc.
Requisitions tools, materials and supplies in accordance with City purchasing guidelines.
Maintains employee time/attendance records for payroll processing.
Participates in the selection of employees; initiates and recommends discipline, promotion, and other personnel actions.
Oversees routine maintenance operations such as lubricating equipment, changing oil and filters, performing vibration analysis, clearing blockages, cleaning pumps, and changing gaskets to keep equipment functioning properly.
Trains employees in proper work methods, equipment operation, and safety precautions; enforces safety rules and regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
|Thorough knowledge of various chemicals utilized in wastewater operations.
Thorough knowledge of industrial mechanical operations, including small engines.
Knowledge of safety rules and regulations governing industrial operations.
Knowledge of pressure valves, pipefitting, and plumbing.
Knowledge of basic welding methods.
Ability to operate electrical and manual hoists, hydraulic gear pullers.
Ability to work in awkward positions around raw sewage and toxic chemicals.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, schematic drawings, technical manuals and bulletins.
Ability to install, maintain, and repair a variety of pumps, valves, motors, and related industrial equipment and machinery at treatment plants and sewage lift stations.
Ability to perform basic welding.
Ability to perform machinist duties to include use of lathe, milling machines etc.
Journey level mechanical skills.
Ability to operate bobcat, forklift, pick-up truck, backhoe, front-end loader.
Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
|High School Graduate plus four (4) years experience in heavy industrial mechanical maintenance including comminuters, pumps, motors, valves, gauges and engines, some of which must have been in a lead or supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, technical manuals and bulletins. May be required to perform machinist duties as required, not to exceed 5% of time. Valid Florida Driver's License and reliable telephone number required. Some positions must pass annual respirator physical; no facial hair allowed between the face and the sealing surface of the respirator face piece.
