|HR ASSESSMENT ANALYST II|
|SEIU Professional Exempt|
|Develops examination material, assessment exercises, and testing strategies for the purpose of employee selection and promotion. Performs job analysis, statistical analysis, researches, trains, and resolves issues. Conducts recruitment and employment processing duties primarily for police and fire positions. Work is performed under general supervision of the Employment/Testing/Training Manager.|
|Develops a variety of testing strategies including administering examinations and coordinating assessments centers; develops, updates, and modifies a variety of examination material, including entry-level and promotional exams for police and fire; analyzes exam results, reviews statistics, and recommends appropriate cut-off scores based on professional standards.
Performs job analysis in accordance with accepted professional standards and adherence to government regulations; meets with subject matter experts; develops questionnaires; performs data entry and analysis and conducts other research as appropriate.
Develops or assists in developing a variety of material such as multiple choice test items, physical agility exams, emergency incident command exercises, assessment center exercises, interview questions, instructions, schedules, and procedures related to examinations and assessments; facilitates group and individual interviews and training sessions; attends meetings to explain issues, obtain information, and resolve problems.
Develops strategies and conducts recruitments as appropriate; evaluates applications and pre/post employment documents; scores exams; analyzes applicant flow and examination data; makes appropriate recommendations based on principles, professional practices, and regulations; conducts background checks and schedules physical, psychological and polygraph appointments.
Provides information to candidates on jobs, careers, and exam results; provides updates to management on recruitments and examination outcomes; responds to concerns and prepares correspondence.
Performs other related work including recruitment, selection, and employment processing as appropriate.
|Knowledge of acceptable practices, principles, and regulations related to employee selection including Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection, psychological standards for test development, test administration, interpretation of exam results, and scoring. (NOTE: Level II requires considerable knowledge.)
Knowledge of personnel administration including examination and assessment center planning and coordination with ability to lead the work of others assisting with testing.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong analytical skills including research, organization of data, and the formulation of recommendations.
Computer skills including the use of word processing, data base, and spreadsheet applications such as Office Suite and applicant processing software.
Ability to interpret exam statistics in order to determine appropriateness and recommend passing scores.
Ability to solve complex problems, review information, research, analyze, think creatively to develop solutions, and exercise sound judgment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, staff, candidates, applicants, and the general public.
|Bachelor's degree in industrial/organizational psychology, behavioral sciences, or other related field and four years specialized experience involving development of examination strategies and assessment centers, or other combination of related education and experience. A master's degree in industrial/organizational psychology and two years experience developing examinations or assessments is desirable.|
