|VENUES EVENT SVCS DIVISION MGR|
|Performs professional, public relations and managerial work in the area of public assembly management. An employee assigned to this classification is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing and promotion programs for the auditorium, sports stadium, arena, exposition center and other Venues Facilities; and, management of booking, event coordination, promotion and advertising functions. Duties require the exercise of considerable initiative and independent judgment in authorizing expenditures for events, advertisement sources, reviewing contracts, and generally representing the Orlando Venues Director with promoters, clients, and the local community. Probable errors in this job would have a significant financial impact, cause public embarrassment to the City and generate potential lawsuits. Work is performed under the direction of the Venues Deputy Director and performance is reviewed for achievement of planned objectives through conferences, reports submitted, and evaluation of results achieved.|
|Plans and develops a comprehensive marketing promotion, security and advertising plan for all Venues facilities to establish a broad public awareness, to analyze and improve Venues services and facilities, to analyze competitors, and maximize events held at Venues facilities.
Supervises and reviews the work of professional and technical staff engaged in activities including, but not limited to, developing and implementing the marketing plan, developing and implementing the security plan, scheduling and booking conventions, concerts, games, and related events, promotion and advertising of events, coordination of events to ensure the clients and patron needs are assessed and met through; issuance of operational orders, event management and follow up.
Represents the Centroplex Director at speaking engagements, meetings, conventions, trade shows, and related public events to promote Venues facilities. Establishes and maintains close relationships with patrons, clients, and sponsors, and local groups to ensure a continual flow of high quality events for the Orlando Venues.
Develops and administers annual divisional operating budgets, develops operational goals and objectives, determines necessity for expenditures, and control of approved expenditures.
Reviews and recommends execution of facility use contracts, ensures documents are correct and comply with departmental and City policies.
Coordinates an effective public relations program to include both coverage of newsworthy items about the facilities and promotion of scheduled events through the development of fliers, brochures, placement of advertisement with local newspapers, radio and/or television stations.
Oversees coordination of client operational and technical needs, performs as Event Supervisor and reviews event evaluations to assure proper service levels are provided.
Initiates marketing strategies and coordinates sales efforts with box office personnel.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
|Knowledge of advertising techniques and principles needed to work with advertising and printing firm representatives to effect design and preparation of advertising copy, sales and promotional literature.
Knowledge of the principles, theories, philosophy and techniques of marketing, promoting, and advertising auditorium, stadium, arena, raceway, and exposition facilities and related events.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations relating to the management of public assembly facilities.
Knowledge of contracts and other agreements related to the rental and use of public assembly facilities.
Knowledge of practices and procedures involved with the set-up, change-over, tear-down, sound and lighting requirements for various events.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with promoters, news media representatives, clients and the general public.
Ability to apply sound marketing and advertising principles and techniques.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both written and verbal.
Ability to develop and administer an operating budget in excess of two hundred thousand dollars.
Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage a wide variety of activities relating to the scheduling, marketing, promotion, and coordination of events for Venues facilities.
Ability to use a personal computer and proficient in MS Word and Excel software programs.
|Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Public Administration or a related field plus a minimum of four (4) years experience performing professional and supervisory work in the areas of event scheduling/booking, event coordination, marketing and promotions; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Previous experience supervising security operations of a large public assembly facility desired.|
