NOTE CHANGE IN MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR IRRIGATION TECHNICIAN I AND DRIVER LICENSE FOR LEVEL II.
Minimum Starting Salary:
Irrigation Technician I: $13.74 per hour (Grade L04)
Irrigation Technician II: $15.25 per hour Grade L05)
NATURE OF WORK:
Performs highly skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of large, complex irrigation systems and their related components. Operates and maintains sophisticated equipment utilized in the water distribution systems, which are necessary to operate irrigation systems located on City-owned facilities. Workload is physically demanding and involves a significant amount of standing, walking, bending, and stooping on a daily basis. Work is performed outdoors and involves exposure to insects, weather conditions, and some chemicals and fumes. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed for accuracy, thoroughness, and compliance with instructions.
IRRIGATION TECHNICIAN I: High school diploma and four years of experience working in the irrigation and/or plumbing field; or an equivalent combination of related training and experience. Florida driver license required; Florida Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class B preferred.
IRRIGATION TECHNICIAN II: Same as Irrigation Technician I, above, except requires six years of experience as specified. Florida CDL Class B required; Class A preferred.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
FOR LEVEL II, VALID FLORIDA COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSE CLASS B MUST BE OBTAINED WITHIN 90 DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT.
