Minimum Starting Salary:
Environmental Specialist I, $16.47 per hour (Grade S16)
Environmental Specialist II, $17.62 per hour (Grade S15)
Environmental Specialist III, $18.86 per hour (Grade S14)
|NATURE OF WORK:
Performs highly specialized technical field and office work serving as lead worker providing training and technical assistance to Environmental Specialists and Utility Service Workers. Responsible for the management of the City of Orlando Reclaimed Water and Fuel Tanks Management Programs. Develops plans for providing extensive public education, communications, customer service, cross-connection control, and backflow prevention. Oversees the construction, startup, operations and compliance of the reclaimed water program/facilities. Assists Environmental Manager with environmental projects. Work is performed under general supervision of the Environmental Manager and performance is reviewed through conferences, reports and results obtained.
ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST I: Associate degree with major course work in chemistry, biology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or related field, and six months public utilities experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must obtain Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Association "Reclaimed Water Site Inspector" Certificate within one year of employment. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to safety regulations. Must pass annual respirator physical and any other state mandates; facial hair is not allowed between the face and the sealing surface of the respirator face piece. Florida driver license required.
ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST II: Same as Environmental Specialist I, above, except requires three years experience as specified and State of Florida Class III Water Distribution System license required.
ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST III: Same as Environmental Specialist II, above, except requires seven years experience as specified.
DOCUMENTATION OF FLORIDA WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM LICENSE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION/RESUME IN ORDER TO QUALIFY AT THE II OR III LEVEL.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
