This is a full-time CONTRACT position with the same benefits as Permanent full-time. Most contracts are renewable for terms of one year.
TWO POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Starting Salary Ranges:
Construction Inspector I: $18.86 to 23.58 per hour, depending on qualifications (Grade 14)
Construction Inspector II: $20.19 to 25.24 per hour, depending on qualifications (Grade 13)
Construction Inspector III: $21.59 to 27.00 per hour, depending on qualifications (Grade 12)
|NATURE OF WORK:
Performs responsible technical field inspection and office work enforcing national, state, and local codes governing the design, construction, and renovation of buildings, structures, wastewater treatment facilities and other public works' projects. Work involves inspection of buildings and structures, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical installations, and requires considerable knowledge of electrical, carpentry, plumbing, building construction, or mechanical field as well as in-depth knowledge of all applicable codes and ordinances. Must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in the interpretation and application of codes in making technical decisions. Work is performed under general supervision, according to established guidelines, and performance is reviewed through reports submitted, meetings, and results obtained for technical sufficiency and consistent application.
CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR I: Associate degree in building construction or project management plus five years experience in building construction or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education, training, and experience. Must be certified by the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (B.C.A.I.) as a Standard Inspector - Building or must obtain a Provisional Certification within four months of hire. Must obtain Standard Certificate within one year. Florida driver license required. Position requires background check which includes a polygraph.
CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR II: Associate degree in building construction or project management plus seven years experience in construction work or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education, training, and experience. Must be certified by the Florida B.C.A.I. as a Standard Inspector - Building. Florida driver license is required. Position requires background check which includes a polygraph.
CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR III: Same as Construction Inspector II, above, except requires nine years of experience as specified.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
