Minimum Starting Salary:
Carpenter II: $13.74 per hour (Grade: L04)
Carpenter III: $15.25 per hour (Grade: L05)
|NATURE OF WORK:
Performs general construction, maintenance, and carpentry work on City installations, properties, and structures. Work assignments are ordinarily received orally or in the form of sketches, blueprints, or written instructions. The employee is expected to apply general maintenance, repair, construction, and carpentry trade knowledge and skill in completing work assignments, which are reviewed by a supervisor by direct observation while in progress and upon completion.
CARPENTER II: High school diploma or equivalent and four years experience in general building and equipment repairs, construction, and carpentry; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge and experience in concrete, roofing, and equipment installation preferred. Experience with computer-based work-order-management systems helpful. Experience in estimating, building inspections, and procurement desired. Florida driver license required.
CARPENTER III: High school diploma or equivalent and six years experience as a journey-level carpenter including significant experience in building repair and construction; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge and experience in concrete, roofing, and equipment installation preferred. Experience with computer-based work-order-management systems helpful. Experience in estimating, building inspections, and procurement desired. Florida driver license required. Must possess journey-level carpentry competency card or certificate of completion from a carpentry trade or vocational school. Other credentials may be submitted and will be considered in lieu of journey card or trade-school certificate.
DOCUMENTATION OF JOURNEY CARD, TRADE-SCHOOL COMPLETION, OR EQUIVALENT MUST BE PROVIDED WITH APPLICATION IN ORDER TO QUALIFY AT THE CARPENTER III LEVEL.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PROVIDED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT.
