On Thursday, May 14, Mayor Buddy Dyer worked with kids in the Florida Hospital for Children’s pediatric unit playroom on an arts and crafts project providing a well-needed distraction. Distractions through play are essential to the recovery of kids in the hospital, as it gives them a few minutes of freedom from the hospital setting and provides an important get away from their medical condition. The time kids spend playing with volunteers can also give parents some much-needed additional support during the stressful time of having a child in the hospital.
