Spotlight on City Services
Department of Economic Development- Business Development Division
One priority for the City of Orlando is to make our City competitive in the new economy, and the City's Business Development Division is key in successfully achieving this goal.
By creating an entrepreneurial climate that fosters the growth of companies, supporting the creation of high wage jobs for our residents, and building strategic partnerships, the Business Development Division is helping to create a stable and diversified economy.
The City's Business Development Division focuses on the following areas:
Building strategic partnerships with other business development agencies
Promoting the City's targeted growth industries which include: technology, business services, manufacturing, information industries, and financial services
Nurturing and cultivating small business development including women and minority businesses
Encouraging redevelopment within the City's core that creates additional jobs for the citizens of Orlando
The Business Development Division facilitates more than 10 economic development programs, two of which are highlighted, addressing the focus areas above.
The Business Assistance Program (BAP) encourages the location and expansion of small businesses within City limits to provide jobs for our citizens.
BAP provides matching funds to new and expanding businesses in the City to assist in offsetting development fees including sewer and transportation
impact fees and building permit fees.
The Business Assistance Team is a valuable City resource created to ensure that businesses within the community have every opportunity to succeed.
The Business Assistance Team acts as a contact, leading businesses to the appropriate City Hall departments, serving as a liaison and, ensuring every
effort is made to make certain that business needs are met.
