Mayor's Message

Dear friends,

As we prepare for the 4th of July holiday, we must remember the thousands of military personnel overseas and here at home protecting our nation and fighting for our freedom. To honor our country on July 4th, the City of Orlando is hosting Fireworks at the Fountain. I invite you to bring your family and friends and join me at Lake Eola Park for this patriotic celebration.

In this issue of City News, you will find a detailed schedule of the day’s events at Lake Eola Park as well as information about parking and road closures.

As always, please feel free to contact me if you have questions or comments.

I look forward to seeing you at Fireworks at the Fountain.

Sincerely,

Buddy Dyer
Mayor

On July 4th, more than 100,000 people are expected to join family, friends and Mayor Dyer to celebrate Fireworks at the Fountain in Downtown Orlando. For the 29th year, Fireworks at the Fountain brings excitement to all ages at Lake Eola Park. Festivities began at 4 p.m. with 2 stages of live entertainment, children’s activities in the Nemours Children’s Area and Orlando Fire department demonstrations.

At 9:15 p.m., Mayor Dyer will kick off the unique fireworks display featuring more than 5,000 “booms” spanning over 20 minutes to commemorate the 2006 Fourth of July celebration. Attendees for Fireworks at the Fountain should arrive early to reserve their spot around Lake Eola to view the City’s firework display.

Mouth-watering and affordable 4th of July cuisine will be available throughout Lake Eola Park including BBQ, turkey legs, gyros, hamburgers, sausages and curly fries. Tasty carnival-style food will also be on-hand, such as kettle korn, cotton candy, sno-cones and ice cream.
